It's pretty snowy in Minneapolis. I lived in Austin, Texas for 13 years. I'm having a hard time taking pictures this winter. Everything's too white. I'll keep developing my never ending backlog of film.

I find it very funny/ironic, while the majority of photo people are moving forward technologically, I'm slowly moving backwards. I stopped using my Epson 1280 inkjet printer and now only print with an enlarger. And now I'm on the verge of selling my scanner. So I think the Nikon Supercoolscan 8000 will be going on eBay soon. After I do that the only way to put images on my website will be by flatbed scanning prints, and that scanner is still in storage.

My technological regression is kind of refreshing. I like things simple in my life and this change feels good to me. To me, a major drawback to the galloping forward of technology for photographers is the increasing obsession with the equipment, and I don't mean the cameras. Now it's all about the printers and scanners and software and labs. I find it hard to believe people are spending much time on their art. That's why I'm happy. The only thing techy I have to worry about now is running out of chemicals, photo paper, film and paper towels.
